This qualification will be delivered as full-time study over the course of 59 weeks, with 10 weeks as breaks/holidays. Duration may vary based on mode of delivery and/or RPL and CT
State and territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.
Completion of the general construction induction training program, specified in the Safe Work Australia model Code of Practice: Construction Work, is required by anyone carrying out construction work. Achievement of CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry meets this requirement.
This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

This qualification provides a trade outcome in wall and ceiling lining for residential and commercial construction work. The qualification has core unit of competency requirements that cover common skills for the construction industry, as well as the specialist field of work wall and ceiling liner. Wall and ceiling liners apply and fix linings for non-structural walls and ceilings.
Occupational titles may include:
- Wall and ceiling liner
- Drywaller
- Plasterer
To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in 29 units of competency, including 22 core units, 7 elective units. Elective must be selected as follows:
- All seven units from the electives listed below, or
- five units from the electives listed below, plus two units selected from any current training package or accredited course as long as they contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome, maintain the integrity of the AQF level of this qualification and do not duplicate the outcome of another unit used to achieve this qualification.
*Units with an asterisk above have CPCCWHS2001 Apply WHS requirements, policies and procedures in the construction industry as a prerequisite. Prerequisite unit/s must be assessed before assessment of any unit of competency with an asterisk. All prerequisite requirements are packaged in the qualification.
The Selection of elective units has been validated by gaining feedback on the course design through industry consultation.
Assessment methods for this qualification include Guided Online Learning and Training (GOLT), written questions, projects, observations, presentations, case studies, reports, practical activities and work placement (if applicable only). GOLT are online, auto-marked summative assessments like True/False, Fill-in-the-Blanks, and Multiple-Choice questions.
- Students are required to attend 14 hours of face-to-face training and assessment per week, including simulation, tutorials, and supervised support sessions.
- They are also expected to complete 6 hours of guided online-based learning, making up a 20-hour structured learning week.
- In addition, learners may need to engage in up to 15 hours of self-directed learning per week (indicative only).
The training will be delivered in 59 weeks with classes scheduled for 49 weeks and 10 weeks of break/ extra tutorials/reassessment period as per the requirement of individual student/learner. Classroom delivery is implemented by setting up an appropriate training plan indicating the units and sequence of delivery and access to session plan and LMS
To ensure suitability to the training methods used for this course, OC requires that all students enrolling in this course
- All students must be aged 18 years or over at the time of applying for admission to the College.
- must have satisfactorily completed studies in their home country equivalent to an Australian Year 11/12 qualification.
- have an IELTS band score of overall 6.0 (Academic or General), or an equivalent English proficiency level, in line with the Department of Education and the Department of Home Affairs (DOHA) regulations (refer to the DOHA website and OC’s International Application, Enrolment and Orientation Policy for further details).
- Be competent in written and spoken English and will undertake a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test prior to commencing the training. Refer to LLN policy for further details.
- Have a sense of balance and the ability to cope with the physical demands of the training and assessment that involves working at heights, heavy lifting, manual labour, operation of tools (both manual and power tools) etc.
- Have Internet Access and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. The student’s device must also have a camera and speaker functions. The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Policy is applicable for this course.
- Basic digital literacy (ability to communicate and access information through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, search engines, emails and basic use of MS Office products).

Credit Transfer
If a certificate or statement of results is produced and verified, a credit transfer process will be initiated by Orange College in relation to the units as per the training plan. Credit transfer is a process that provides students with agreed and consistent credit outcomes for components of a qualification based on identified equivalence in content and learning outcomes between matched qualifications. RPL
RPL is an assessment process that evaluates a person’s existing skills and knowledge gained through formal, informal, and non-formal learning to determine if they may receive credit towards a qualification. Upon enrolment of all learning programs, Orange College’s code of practice states that all candidates for assessment will be offered RPL. This is reiterated in the student handbook and acknowledged in writing. (Source: AQF)
On the successful completion of this course, the learners are going to be awarded the CPC31220 Certificate III in Wall and Ceiling Lining, which is a nationally recognised qualification. Students who do not complete all the units may be eligible for a Statement of Attainment in the partial completion of the qualification
